Lapis Lazuli • Sodalite • Clear Quartz (16½”)
Moe Gems Necklace – Lapis Lazuli • Sodalite • Clear Quartz (16½”) with Star Carabiner
Every Gem has a Story to Tell…
This 16½-inch Moe Gems necklace mixes deep-blue Lapis Lazuli rounds with Sodalite heishi and chip beads, plus a few sprinkled 6 mm Clear Quartz accents to subtly amplify the whole strand. It’s finished with a bold Star Carabiner clasp. The clasp is interchangeable—swap it for any of our other styles to change the vibe (visit the Necklace Carabiner page). Note: overall length can shift slightly with a larger/smaller carabiner.
🌍 Origin & History
Lapis Lazuli: Treasured for 6,000+ years, especially from Afghanistan’s Sar-e-Sang mines (also Chile, Russia, Pakistan). Egyptians inlaid lapis in royal regalia and ground it into eye pigment; Renaissance painters prized it as the ultramarine blue in masterworks. A rock composed mainly of lazurite with calcite and sparkly pyrite (Mohs ~5–5.5).
Sodalite: First identified in Greenland (1806); later beloved from Canadian deposits nicknamed “Princess Blue.” Found in Brazil, Namibia, Bolivia and more. A sodium-rich feldspathoid (Mohs ~5.5–6) showing denim-to-royal blues with cloudy white calcite.
Clear Quartz (accent stones): Globally revered “rock crystal” (Mohs 7). In energy traditions it’s a neutral amplifier—here it sits quietly between stones to brighten the field.
🌸 Also known as:
- Lapis Lazuli → Lapis, Lazurite-bearing rock
- Sodalite → sometimes marketed as Princess Blue (trade)
- Clear Quartz → Rock Crystal, Crystal Quartz
🌸 Notes:
- Lapis vs. Sodalite: lapis typically shows golden pyrite and a richer ultramarine; sodalite reads cooler/denim with more white veining.
- Market facts: lapis is often waxed; low grades can be dyed. Sodalite may be resin-stabilized. (See Transparency below.)
Eastern Healing Perspectives
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Lapis Lazuli is selected in TCM-inspired practice to soothe Liver Wind (tension, irritability, some headaches) and to harmonize Qi around the throat/neck for voice expression. It’s also used to calm Shen (spirit) and ease eye strain (the Liver “opens to the eyes”).
Sodalite is chosen to anchor Kidney-Water for deep calm and to support Lung rhythms when anxious breathing or overthinking disrupts rest. Many wear it near the throat for steady communication and better sleep onset.
Clear Quartz is used as a Qi amplifier—to clarify, direct, and distribute energy through all channels.
🌸 TCM Notes on Medical Healing (traditional/energetic):
- Migraines & tension headaches: lapis for Liver Wind; combine with amethyst.
- Throat/thyroid area, voice strain: lapis at the neck; quartz to broadcast.
- Anxiety, restless sleep: sodalite to settle Water and calm the mind.
- Eye strain from screens: lapis is traditionally favored.
TCM Pairings:
- Fatigue & mental fog → Sodalite + Clear Quartz + Citrine
- PMS moodiness/irritability → Lapis + Rose Quartz
- Sleep support & vivid but calmer dreams → Sodalite + Moonstone
🌺 Ayurveda
Lapis Lazuli cools Pitta (heat, irritability, inflammatory states) and steadies Vata at the mind, aligning with Ajna (Third Eye) and Vishuddha (Throat) chakras for truth-telling and calm insight.
Sodalite gently pacifies Vata (racing thoughts, insomnia) and supports clear, grounded communication.
Clear Quartz is tridoshic—able to balance Vata/Pitta/Kapha and to magnify intentions.
🌺 Ayurveda Notes on Medical Healing (traditional/energetic):
- Pitta headaches & hot flashes: lapis’ cooling nature.
- Vata anxiety & scattered focus: sodalite’s calming influence.
- Skin/hair appearance: indirect support via stress reduction and better rest habits.
Suggested Ayurvedic Pairings:
- Pitta soothing → Lapis + Moonstone
- Vata calming → Sodalite + Smoky Quartz
- Study/clarity → Sodalite + Clear Quartz + Fluorite
Eastern Medical Notes : These uses reflect traditional energetic frameworks (TCM/Ayurveda). They’re supportive practices—not medical treatments.
Western Metaphysical Perspective
- Lapis Lazuli: truth, wise speech, self-trust.
- Sodalite: logic + intuition, emotional balance, sleep support.
- Clear Quartz: clarity, programmability, overall amplification.
Western Pairings:
- Communication/presentations → Lapis + Sodalite
- Focus & study → Sodalite + Clear Quartz
- Heart-led truth → Lapis + Rose Quartz
Cleansing & Charging
Be gentle—Lapis & Sodalite are softer/porous compared to Quartz.
Cleanse:
-
- Rest on Selenite overnight.
- Soft dry microfiber wipe; if needed, a very quick lukewarm rinse, then dry immediately.
- Optional smoke cleanse (sage, palo santo).
Charge:
-
- Moonlight is ideal (full moon for a deeper reset).
- Brief early-morning sunlight only; avoid strong midday sun.
- Place near Clear Quartz or on a geode to gently boost.
Avoid / Don’ts:
-
- No soaking (no saltwater; avoid pools/hot tubs).
- No ultrasonic/steam cleaners or harsh chemicals/acids—can etch surface and dull polish.
- Prolonged direct sun may fade sodalite; adhesives can soften with heat.
- If you use Hematite for grounding, charge this necklace separately (some practitioners find hematite can dampen other stones during charging).
Everyday care: put jewelry on last (after lotions/perfume), remove before workouts/sleep, and store separately to prevent scratches (lapis/sodalite are softer than quartz).
Carabiner & Fit: Comes with the Star Carabiner shown. Other photos may feature alternate carabiners to show styling possibilities—browse the Necklace Carabiner page to add more. Changing the carabiner can slightly change the overall length.
