🌍 Origin & History

Indigo Gabbro is a relatively newly recognized stone in the crystal world, first widely introduced from Madagascar in the early 2000s. Geologically, it is an igneous rock formed deep within the Earth, cooling slowly beneath the surface — which allows its mineral components to grow large enough to create the dramatic marbled patterns seen in polished beads.

Because Indigo Gabbro was not commonly traded in ancient China or India, it does not have a classical TCM or Ayurvedic materia medica record. However, modern practitioners map its energetic behavior through elemental and meridian correspondences, much like newer minerals introduced through global trade.

Its nickname “Mystic Merlinite” (a trade name, not a geological one) comes from its strong reputation for uniting light and shadow, intuition and grounding, conscious and subconscious awareness.
