Bold, earthy, and completely one of a kind, Desert Wanderer brings together two remarkable stones from opposite sides of the world: iconic Kingman Turquoise from Arizona and richly colored Mookaite from Western Australia.

Organic Kingman Turquoise nuggets in vivid shades of blue and blue-green are paired with substantial Mookaite nuggets in a naturally occurring palette of deep burgundy, plum, mauve, mustard, cream, and warm earth tones. Smaller 4 mm Kingman Turquoise and Mookaite stone beads continue the color story throughout the design, creating a necklace that feels collected rather than simply matched.

The pairing is unexpected, but somehow feels as though these stones were always meant to find one another. The brilliant desert blues of Kingman Turquoise bring contrast to the ancient, earthy colors of Mookaite, while the organic shapes and natural variations ensure that no two sections of the necklace look exactly alike.

Desert Wanderer is designed in the Moe Gems Clasp & Go style. Rather than having a traditional clasp hidden at the back of the neck, the necklace fastens at the front with two clasps, allowing the included silver-tone butterfly pendant to be removed and the necklace restyled with other compatible pendants from your own collection.

The Story Within the Stones

Kingman Turquoise comes from the historic Mineral Park mining district near Kingman, Arizona, an area with a long history of turquoise mining. Turquoise itself has been treasured across cultures for thousands of years, and Kingman has become one of the most recognizable names in American turquoise.  

Mookaite carries an entirely different geological story. Found in Western Australia and associated with the Mooka Creek region, the material commonly known in the jewelry world as Mookaite is a silica-rich, fossiliferous sedimentary stone connected to ancient marine deposits. Its extraordinary palette.....from cream and golden yellow to rust, burgundy, mauve, and deep red....is created entirely by nature.  

Together, these stones create a meeting of sky and earth, Arizona and Australia, vivid color and ancient landscape.
